GRCS supports Fatoto community

The Gambia Red Cross Society GRCS on Wednesday disbursed 100 lamps and 9 bags of 100 kilograms groundnut subsides to the community of Fatoto in the Upper River Region.

Out of the donated lamps 50 were given to the Fatoto Upper Basic, while the remaining 50 lamps went to Fatoto Lower Basic School. The groundnut subsidies were shared among nine families in the community.

Speaking at the occasion, GRCS' Branch Officer for Basse Dawda Sankareh, revealed that the gesture was in response to the needs identified by the community.

"Earlier on the community identified floods, food security and domestic fire, as their critical needs," Sankareh added.

This gesture which was delivered at the end of a two-day contingency planning held in Fatoto, was attended by over forty participants. As part of their response, GRCS will also embark on tree-planting, construction of toilet facilities, wells, among others.
