GPF Warns Against Usage of Unregistered License Plates

africa » gambia
Friday, June 05, 2009

The Gambia Police Force has issued a stern warning against what it described as the use of license plates that are not officially registered by unscrupulous individuals.

"The office of the Inspector-General of Police has noticed that some unscrupulous individuals are using licence plates that are not officially registered", a press release from the police headquarters said yesterday.

This, according to the release, happened due to the unavailability of plates in the past.

The office of the Inspector-General of Police, therefore, urged all vehicle owners who paid their licence plates to collect their official plates at the Number Plate Department, Police Headquarters, in Banjul latest 15th June 2009.

"The Gambia Police Force in ensuring general security will no longer allow the usage of licence plates that are not officially issued by the police", the release stated, noting that to avoid unnecessary delay and embarrassment, vehicle owners are strictly urged to ensure that they have "the officially issued licence plates on their vehicles."
