Goat Thief Convicted

Monday, August 17, 2009

The Bundung Magistrates' Court, presided over by Magistrate B.O. Jobe on 13th August 2009, convicted and sentenced one Muhammed Lowe to a fine of D2500, in default to serve six months in prison.

Magistrate B.O. Jobe, in his judgment, stated that the convict was charged with the offence of stealing a goat in Sinchu Alhagie Village, valued at D1,500, being the property of one Mariama Bah.

The Accused had denied the charge.

The Magistrate further revealed that the prosecution in support of their case had called three witnesses, whilst the defence called only one witness.

He adduced that the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses corroborated each other, noting that the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt. He added that the court was satisfied with the prosecution's witnesses, and therefore found the convict guilty of the offence charged.
