Barely two weeks after the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) first Vice President Beatrice Allen was feted in Abidjan with the Commander of Sports Merit Award of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, another GNOC executive committee member Alhaji Ousman B. Wadda has been elected into the executive board of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) at the 8th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 21-25 July 2013.

Ousman Wadda, who is the treasurer of the GNOC, got through the elections as Executive Board member of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and was appointed Chairman of the Technical Committee of the federation.

It was indeed a huge achievement for the current leadership of the GNOC, especially for The Gambia as a nation.

It would be noted that Ousman Wadda served in its Technical Committee of the federation for a four-year term, starting from 2009 to 2013.

Ousman Wadda is the first Gambian to serve in the nine-man committee whose members come from Libya, Guyana, Cote d’Ivoire, Iran Tchad, Tajiskistan, Saudi Arabia and Uganda.

Wadda’s experience will be an asset to the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation in its mission to serve the youth of the Islamic Ummah.

The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) was created under the auspices of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

The Gambia as a member of OIC plays an active role in the organisation of the Islamic Solidarity Games every four years. These games are organised by the National Olympic Committees of the member states of the Islamic Ummah.
