GFA 2nd Division round up

Africell FC moved two points clear on top of the 2009-10 Gambia Football Association (GFA) second division league standing, following their weekend narrow victory 1-0 over last year's FA Cup winners Young Africans  at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Alie Mbye netted Africell's only goal in the 33rd minute to put his side's title hopes alive.

The win has seen Africell bag 23 points from 14 games while Young Africans, who remain their closest rivals, collected 20 points from 14 games with the race for the league title still far from over.

Elsewhere at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama, Serrekunda East thrashed Serrekunda United 2-0 in an all typical Serrekunda derby, but East emerged victorious thanks to goals from Baboucarr Trawally and Ebrima Sowe in the 82nd and 86th minutes of the game respectively.

Serrekunda East has now collected 21 points, while opponents Serrekunda United registered 15 points.

Lamin FC drew 0-0 with Banjul United at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium that gave them 21 points.

On the same day, at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda, Nema United defeated Tallinding United by a goal to nil as they now collected 22 points from 14 games while Tallinding United collected 16.

Flamemins FC defeated Latrikunda United by a goal to nil at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

Flamemins FC now collected 15 points from fourteen games while Latrikunda United collected 12 points from fourteen games.
