The Gambia Telecommunications Company (Gamtel) and Gamcel on Monday presented office equipment to the Gambia Immigration Department at its headquarters in Banjul.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Pierre Cherry, Director of Corporate Affairs at Gamtel, said Gamtel and Gamcel have a very good relationship with the immigration.

“The donation is part of Gamtel’s corporate social responsibility,” he said.

The executive chairs donated by Gamtel will facilitate the work of the Immigration, he says, adding that Gamtel and Gamcel are partners in development.

“The donation is a token of appreciation for Immigration and the work they are doing,” he added. “More of this nature will come in the near future.”

For his part, the Public Relations Manager of Gamtel, Amadou Touray, says that security personnel play a very important role in the country.

He added that Gamtel/Gamcel recognises the immigration’s role in the security of the nation.

Mr. Touray also used the opportunity to congratulate the Immigration department for its recent victory in Senegal during the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association (NISA) competition.

The Deputy Director General of Immigration, Pa Babucarr Mboob, thanked Gamtel and Gamcel for the good gesture.

He said the items donated “will be put into good use”.

Other speakers at the occasion included the Commissioner of Administration, Landing Jarjue, and the Immigration Public Relations Officer Ba Ensa Jawara.
