africa » gambia
Wednesday, February 24, 2010

The 17-year-old Karatee star Babucarr Mbye, who has accumulated a wealth of experience in Karatee on Monday 22nd February 2010, opened a new Karate Club, called Excellent of Karate Academy in a fascinating inaugural ceremony held at the Serrekunda-West Mini-stadium under the watchful eyes of six different Karate Clubs such as Dragon, X-Kay, Finakosi, Sawo Kungfu-Contact, Gambia Martial Arts Academy and the Flying Tigers Karate Club in Latrikunda.

The young Gambian Karate star who has never denied his desire to raise the standards of Karate in The Gambia was quite impressed with the level of commitment and participation of Karate clubs in The Gambia in recent times. Mbye, aged, 17, who began his Karatee career with Flying Tigers Karate Club in Latrikunda a few years ago remains confident that, he alongside his colleagues from different Karate Clubs across the country would do everything possible to raise the standards of Karate in the country.

He therefore called for concerted efforts among all Karate Clubs in the country, in a bid to develop the game at grassroots level.
