Gambia hosts international fishing competition

As part of efforts to promote tourism in the country, the Gambia Tourism Board organised the first-ever international boat fishing competition.

It was held from 12 to 15 November 2014, and brought participants from the UK who took part in the competition.

The competition points were Barra point, Cape point, Fajara and Kotu.

Speaking at the welcome ceremony held at the Green Mamba Garden Restaurant, Ousainou Senghore, acting-Director General of the GT Board thanked all those who attended the event.

He said the completion was very important for The Gambia as it was one of its kind in the country.

Senghore said the competition was for four days, and the overall winner went home with 1,000 pounds.

The GTBoard acting-Director General also thanked the Gambia International Airlines, as well as sister organizations, and said the GTB organized such an event as part of product development.

Ousman Kebbeh, product development officer at the GT Board, thanked those in The Gambia and those who came from the UK to attend the competition.
