FROGS Award Prizes to Gambia Methodist Academy Pupils

Friends of Gambian Schools (FROGS) recently awarded prizes and certificates to the pupils of Grade 8 at the Gambia Methodist Academy.

The students had applied to FFROGS for help in setting up a school garden, and after supplying the tools, FROGS issued a challenge to the pupils to find the best "gardeners" in Grade 8.

The project was monitored from the start by Sally Reader of FROGS. The progress of the pupils, how they managed their crops, and their yields and marketing were recorded.

By the Christmas and New Year festivities, the first crops were ready, and radishes were sold successfully to the hotels.

Tomatoes, carrots and aubergines were also later harvested.

The Agricultural Science teachers oversaw the pupils and encouraged them to work hard. The school now has small gardens all around the school compound.

All the participants received certificates and four prize winners, Samsideen S. Bah, Abraham Sesay, Martha Badgie and Victoria Emezi received printed t-shirts.
