Fake Travelers Cheques Seized - Four Arrested

The police last Sunday arrested four men for allegedly being in possession of fake traveller's cheques.

Linus Uche Mbadi, Kennethe Kenechi Eweputanna, Arinz Echukwu Kingsley Nwankwo and Donatus Nwufu Ikwuwunna, all Nigerian nationals were arrested with 647 travellers cheque leafs, each bearing an amount of One Hundred Euro.

The police PRO, ASP Sulayman Secka, revealed that 447 cheque leafs was recovered from Linus Uche Mbadi, 92 from Kennethe Kenechi Eweputanna and 100 from Arinz Echukwu Kingsley Nwankwo, but nothing was found with Donatus Nwufu Ikwuwunna. He added that Thomas Cook and American Express travellers' cheques were falsified.

He further revealed that Linus Uche Mbadi was found with a Lesotho passport with his photo bearing the name Moeketsi Debeshe. Kennethe Kenechi Eweputanna was also found with a Sierra Leonean passport with the Alie Kargbo, and Arinz Echukwu Kingsley Nwankwo with a South African passport with the name Henington Benson Tambo.

He explained that Linus Uche Mbadi arrived in The Gambia on the 30th August 2008 while the rest arrived on the 6th September.

In another development, one Aboubacarr Tunkara, a Gambian was on Saturday 30th August 2008 apprehended at a restaurant in Kololi with 400 pieces of diamond. He was however released on bail on Monday.
