Duo arraigned for felony

Sheikh Tijan Cham and Babucarr Gaye were recently arraigned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and attempting to commit a felony.

Both denied the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of D50,000 with two Gambian sureties each.

The charge sheet on count one stated that on 19 September 2010, at the West African International School in Bakau, in the Kanifing Municipality, Sheikh Tijan Cham and Babucarr Gaye jointly conspired to commit a felony to wit stealing.

Count two also states that on the same day and place at 4pm, jointly scaled over the said school fence with intent to commit a felony to wit stealing.

The case was then adjourned till 10 November 2010.
