Driver Convicted

One Modou Jallow, a driver, was on Monday 15th June 2009, convicted and sentenced to a fine of D2, 000, in default to serve three months in prison.

The verdict follows the accused person own plea of guilty to the offence of careless driving and driving without a licence.

Principal Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay was the Presiding Magistrate.

 On Count one, the accused Modou Jallow on 19th December 2007, along Mamadi Manjang Highway drove a motor vehicle, with a registration number FAO 42A Toyota Pickup without due care and thereby caused an accident.

On Count two, the accused on the same date, time and place drove the said Toyota pickup without a valid license.

In his plea of mitigation, the convict begged the court to temper justice with mercy as he is a family man.
