Driver arraigned for traffic offences

A driver called Ansumana Sonko was recently arraigned before Magistrate Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with careless driving, unlicensed driving, driving without certificate of insurance and failure to report an accident.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, on 2 October 2010, at Sotokoi Village, in Kombo East district, West Coast Region, the defendant, Ansumana Sonko, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL4398F without due care, thereby caused an accident.

The charge sheet on count two read that on the same date and place, he drove the said vehicle without valid licence.

Count three stated that on the same date and place, he drove the said vehicle, involved in an accident and he deliberately failed to report the said accident.

Furthermore count four stated that he drove the said motor vehicle without certificate of insurance.

The case was then adjourned till 24 May 2011.
