Draughts Association duo leaves for Mali for African Championship

Two players from the Gambia Draughts Association, namely Sulayman Norman and the national champion of the Gambia Draughts Association, Sheikh Njie on Wednesday left The Gambia for Bamako, Mali, to attend the 14th edition of the African Draughts Championship, slated from 11th- 26th June 2010, according to information reaching Pointsport from the association yesterday.

The championship which is expected to involve a total of 15th African countries, including the host Mali will include a total number of 25 participants that are set to partake in the championship which kicked-off last Saturday.

Sheikh Njie, who made a remarkable performance to earn himself a place in the World Draughts Championship in the last year's Draughts Championship at the Sea View Hotel, along with his Gambian comrade will do everything possible to raise the standards of the Draughts Association, as they looked set to take part in the championship. 

The duo are expected back home at the end of the campaign.
