DJ Lamin Cham, Musa Ngum Honoured

DJ Lamin Cham the CEO of Champion sounds, the music promoter and Musa Ngum a Gambian Senegal-based musician has been awarded as 'music promoters of the year.'

The award ceremony is expected to be held in April 2009, at the Kairaba Beach Hotel where a Gala dinner will be organised.

The prestigious accolade is being conferred on them in recognition of their sterling contribution to the promotion and development of Gambian burgeoning music industry.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment at his recording studio, The president's award winning DJ, Lamin Cham described Musa Ngum as one of the recommended Gambian musicians, noting that such important people should be honoured by Gambian producers, promoters and music presenters. "Our first music award Gala night, last year, included people like Abdul Lie Ngum, the late Pap Touray and Oku Drammeh. They have received their lifetime achievements," he said.

He added that this year Musa Ngum and Ousu Njie Senior are among the awardees for the best Gambian performance artists, the best selling albums of the year.

The President's award winning DJ said this time they are taking the Gambian artists to the highest level. According to him the award ceremony will be broadcast live on GRTS and 2STV of Senegal.

Mr Cham revealed that there will be awards for 'Entertainment Journalists of the year', the 'Comedy of the year', Actor and Actress of the year'.
