The fifth defence witness, Bakary Sarjo, recently testified at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Tabally.

Bakary Sarjo was charged alongside Buba Sarr, Foday Ebrima Keita, Ousman Saidy, Momodou Alimu Bah and Bakary Jarju for obtaining money by false pretence, a charge they have all denied.

Testifying before the court, Bakary Sarjo told the court that he resides in Bundung, and knows his co-accused persons.

He noted that he works with his co-accused at the same association called the Consumer Association Group.

“Our function is to monitor the prices of foodstuff,” the defence witness revealed.

He adduced that he did not take money from anybody in the name of the association, adding that he had not tasked any one of his colleagues to collect money in the name of the association as well.

Defence counsel Martins, who represented the accused persons, tendered a document, which was identified by the witness and admitted by the court for identification purpose.

Hearing into the case continues.
