Defence counsel Lamin S. Camara and Ngui Mboob-Janneh have jointly filed a motion at the high court in Banjul to re-list the appeal case that was filed by the cocaine convicts.

It would be recalled that the high court presided over by Justice Edrissa Fafa Mbai struck out the appeal case sometime early last month at the instance of the defence.

The appellants, all foreign nationals, were appealing against their conviction by the lower court in Banjul, which convicted and sentenced them to 50-year imprisonment for their involvement in a multiple million-dollar cocaine case.

The appellants are Rudy Rasoehamid Ghazi, Juan Carlos Sanchez, George Sanchez, Louis Dose Fermin, Eric Bottini, and Juan Carlos Diaz, all said to have been involved in trafficking in The Gambia of two and a half tonnes of cocaine.

The case was adjourned till 9 May 2012.
