Congratulations George S. Madi

We join the entire Gambian people to congratulate Mr. George S. Madi, the Honorary Consul General of Japan in The Gambia on his recent award.

Honorable Madi was recently awarded with a prestigious award by the government of Japan in recognition of his tireless efforts in strengthening the cordial relationship between The Gambia and Japan.

According to the Japanese ambassador to the Gambia, His Excellency Takashi SAITO, the award was conferred on him in recognition of his contribution in promoting friendship and cordial ties between Banjul and Tokyo.

"I have the great pleasure and distinct honour to bestow 'the Order of the Rising Sun Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon', on Mr. George S. Madi Honorary Consul General of Japan in The Banjul", he stated.

George S. Madi, according to him, is a well-known personality in the Gambia, and a successful business tycoon. He informed the gathering that Honourable Madi is the Managing Director of Shyben A. Madi and Sons Limited, who has been a member of the Rotary Club since 1981.

It's indeed a fact that a man of his calibre deserves such an award. A man who really serves his purpose like him definitely worth the merit.

Back home, the contribution of Mr.Madi in the socio- economic development of the country cannot be over- emphasised.

He serves as a role model to many people particularly young entrepreneurs.

According to the chief Japanese diplomat, Mr. Madi's company has been an agency for many major Japanese companies like Nissan, Yamaha, among others.

"He has deepened his understanding of our country and people through business with these companies and contributed to the reinforcement of the relations between Japan and The Gambia," he stated.

Upon the Japanese government's request, he kindly accepted to work as Honorary Consul of Japan in Banjul in 1988.

He further disclosed that during the last twenty years, Consul George S.Madi has worked with eight ambassadors, including him. He congratulated Mr.Madi for the achievement, and thus hoped for more fruitful relations between Banjul and Tokyo.

This is a great award we understand and we wish to congratulate you for the achievement. We do hope that this award will serve as an inspiration for not only Mr. Madi, but also his family as a whole.

In receiving the award, Honorary Consul General Madi thanked the government of Japan through ambassador SAITO for the honour. He also promised to live up to expectations.

Once again, we wish you good luck and many more achievements in your life.

The calibre of people who attended the award ceremony only speaks volume that you are indeed not an ordinary man but prominent. You are indeed a great man.
