Zono Jammeh, principal of Saint Therese’s Upper Basic School who recently received athletics materials from four big companies, has expressed her delight at receiving such kind of gestures, describing it as timely and welcome.

DHL, MP Trading, Unique Solutions and Gamcel - one of the giant cellular companies in The Gambia - few days ago presented athletics materials to Saint Therese’s Upper Basic School.

The presentation held at the school grounds, was witnessed by staff of the school and graced by Principal Zono Jammeh.

Few hours after receiving the items, Ms Jammeh could not hide her satisfaction for the companies’ generosity saying: “The school is so much appreciative of the support from DHL, Unique Solutions, MP Trading and Gamcel, who are also our great partners.”

Zono, who was speaking to Pointsport recently in an interview at the Independence Stadium in Bakau as part of activity marking yet another Inter-House Athletics Championship for St Therese’s, is however hopeful that the items would greatly help the school to do well in this year’s inter-school athletics championship.

Chinedu Njoku, staff secretary at the school, also added his voice to the interview, saying he was equally appreciative of and grateful for the support rendered by the aforementioned companies.

He also described them as their great partners whose support he said is the driving force behind the successes registered by the school in various athletics competitions.

Pointsport was not present at the presentation ceremony but our reporter did not hesitate to visit two of the donors at their respective offices.

First to speak to was Sheriff Bobb, a marketing officer at Gamcel, who said the national GSM operator had donated T-shirts and banner to Saint Therese’s Upper Basic School.

Bobb used the opportunity to assure the school of Gamcel’s ceaseless support to the improvement of health, education, agriculture and sports.

Jainaba Jallow, personnel assistant at Unique Solutions, one of the donors, said Unique Solutions had donated sporting materials to Saint Therese’s Upper Basic School.

Similar support by Unique Solutions to Saint Therese’s was done last year with the provision of free maintenance to the school’s machines.
