CID officer testifies in theft case

Lang Tonto Sanneh, a police officer recently testified in the trial of one Ousman Kindeh Jallow, accused of stealing from a motor vehicle, at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Gomez.

Officer Sanneh told the court he is attached to Serrekunda Police Station under the CID unit, and recognized the accused person.

He recalled that between 13 and 21 January 2015, he was at his work place at around 20: 32 p.m, when a case file together with the complainant, Penda Conda, was forwarded to his office for further investigation.

Upon receiving the case file, entries were made in the dairy and investigation into the matter began, he said, adding that the complainant was interviewed and narrated what happened.

Some officers were dispatched on patrol and some suspects were arrested for further investigation, based on the fact that the complainant said she could recognize the accused, he said.

An identification parade was held and the complainant identified the accused.

A photo was taken, and the accused was then brought to their office, interrogated and confronted in the presence of the complainant.

The complainant narrated what happened and the accused denied the allegation, he said, adding that the accused was cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
