Charms Case in Court

Three men were on Monday arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates' Court, charged with three counts of attempting to acquire criminal charms for malefactors, offering criminal charms for reward and conspiracy to acquire criminal charms for reward.

Osseh Abdoulie Corr, Alasan Mbow and Baboucarr Njie were however remanded in to custody by the presiding Principal Magistrate Edrissa Mbai.

Count one, the particulars of the offence states that the three accused persons with others at large sometimes between June and August 2008 in Banjul, Kanifing and other places in the Gambia attempted to acquire criminal charms for malefactors and thereby committed an offence.

On count two, the alleged offence revealed that the accused persons with others at large, sometimes between June and August 2008 in Banjul, Kanifing and other places in the Gambia offered to pay millions of Dalasis for gun protection charms and thereby committed an offence.

While on count three, the alleged offence stated that the accused persons with others at large between June and August 2008 in Banjul and other places in the Gambia conspired together to acquire criminal charms for malefactors and thereby committed an offence.

Both the accused persons vehemently denied the charges.

The case was adjourned to 5th November 2008.
