As part of their preparations for league, The Gambia Football Association division one league champions Brikama United have started intensive training at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium ahead of the 2012 CAF African Champions league.

Brikama United clinched the Gambia Football Association division one league title in grand style after collecting 43 points in twenty-two games in early June this year.

The team will play series of test matches in the country and away, to properly prepare for the continent’s top club competition in early 2012. They will also embark on series of fundraising activities to raise more funds for the team’s participation in the championship.

Brikama United was formed in 2002. Over the years they have played in the West Coast Region third qualifiers, after gaining promotion to the second tier of Gambian football back in 2001-2002, where they spent five years.

They gained promotion to the Gambia Football Association National division league in 2008-2009 season where they finished 9th position. In the 2009-2010 season they finished 10th position and in the 2010-2011 season they clinched the league title. The Brikama outfit will represent The Gambia in the continent’s club football showdown next year, which is just around the corner.
