Brikama Man Convicted for Theft

Siaka Ceesay of Brikama on Tuesday 16th December 2008 was convicted and sentence by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrate Court of stealing in a dwelling house contrary to section 256 of the criminal code cap vol. III laws of the Gambia, which he pleaded guilty.

According to the police prosecutor Sgt. 1798 Samura told the court that on the 20th July 2008 at Kembujeh Village while the complainant Dusu Saho went for a medical treatment on her return back home she came to discovered that her gold chain value D2500 was not in her house she ask the accused about the chain but the accused said he did not see it. He said later the complainant was told that the accused sold the chain to somebody by the name Lamin Saho. He said when complainant confronted him for the second time later discover that the chain was sold to one Lamin Saho an amount of D300 who also sold it to somebody in Cassamance, he said Lamin Saho later went for the chain to the person he sold it to. It was then the accused person was arrested and brought to the Brikama Police Station where he was charge.

After given the fact, the accused person was arrested and brought to the Brikama Police Station where he was charge.

The accused person was sentence to serve 1 month imprisonment with hard labour.
