Boy Killed in Car Accident

Madi Secka of Brikama was recently arraigned before Brikama Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh charged with rash and negligence act causing death contrary to section 221 of criminal code Cap 10 Vol III laws of the Gambia.

According to the statement of the offence, Madi Secka on or about 4th April 2009 at Abuko village in Kombo North when the Under 17 team was coming from the airport, the accused knocked one Ebrima Bah, a 17- year- old boy and thereby caused his death. He pleaded guilty.

According to the victim's parents they informed the court that they wanted to withdraw the case for the simple reason that it was an accident though it was a very serious one, but they have nothing to blame the accused about. They said everything was done by God, and when God was giving them the child they never knew, and equally they did not know when He wanted to take him. It is not the intention for any human being to cause an accident. According to them everything was done by the God, and therefore begged God to show mercy.
