Banjul to host May Day Sports as preparation intensifies

Preparations for the 23rd Edition of the Traditional May Day Sports organised by the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) is in high gear as workers prepare to go to the track and field for yet another year in celebration of a day set aside for all workers.

The May Day Mass Sports is taking place on Wednesday 1 May 2013 at the 22nd July Square in Banjul.

This year’s Mass Sports shall commence with a one-day Volleyball Gala to be held on Sunday 28 April 2013 at the Manneh Sillah Memorial Lawn.

The Mass Sports will feature sprint runs and fun events such as 100M, 3-Legged Race, Team Relays, Tug of War men and women, Musical Chairs, the Greasy Pole, Potato Race, Sack Race, Pillow fight, 70M Race for Cabinet Ministers, and 80M Race for Permanent Secretaries.

A consultative meeting on 24 April 2013 at the GNOC Olympic House Conference Hall is set to be held next week in preparation of the event.
