Assailant convicted

Friday, July 30, 2010

The Bundung Magistrates' Court on 26th July 2010 convicted and sentenced one Ousman Jarju to one year six months in prison for assaulting one Ousman Bojang with a broken bottle at Sukuta.

The convicted person was also ordered to compensate the complainant with D1, 000 in default to serve nine months in prison.

Magistrate Surahata Danso in his judgment stated that the accused was charged with the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm, which he denied.  He added that the prosecution in support of their case had called in three witnesses, while the accused called only one witness.

Magistrate Danso further indicated that the prosecution has proven its case beyond all reasonable doubt, by calling three credible witnesses. He, therefore, found the accused person guilty of the offence charged, and convicted him accordingly.
