Armed Forces to meet JS Kabylie in CAF champions league draw

The Gambia Football Association Premier League champions Armed Forces is set to take on JS Kabylie (ALG) in the draw for next year's Africa Champions League, according to the fixtures released by the Confederation of African Football.

The first leg matches will be played between 12 and 14 of February, featuring 26 matches with a total of 52 teams battling for a second round spot.

Reigning champions TP Mazembe of the DR Congo have been given a bye into the second round and will play the winner of the game between APR of Rwanda and Recreativo Libolo of Angola.

This year's beaten finalists Heartland of Nigeria also have a bye into round two.

Six-time champions Al Ahly of Egypt will also begin their campaign in round two. Others teams given a bye are Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Dynamos of Zimbabwe and Al Hilal of Sudan.

Highlights of the first round include ASC Linguere of Senegal, who takes on Asante Kotoko Ghana, while Kenyan champions Sofapaka will make their debut in the competition against Egypt's Ismailia.

The second leg will be played in the weekend of February 26th 2010, while the second round matches will be played in March and April.

Meanwhile, the draw for next year's African Confederation Cup is also out for now.

Champions Stade Malien of Mali have been given a bye into the second round and will play the winner of the first round game between Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast and USFA of Burkina Faso.

Several former African Champions league winners will also be taking part in the competition next year.

They are Enyimba of Nigeria, FAR Rabat of Morocco and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.

Other teams who will kick-off their campaigns in the next round are Young Africans of Tanzania, FC 105 of Gabon, Vita of Ivory Coast and three-time winners CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.

The first leg matches in the first round will be played between 2 and 14th of February.
