As part of this paper's continuous efforts to build the capacity of its staff, another member of the Point family is set for overseas training in Ghana, sponsored by INWENT Capacity-building Project.

Soury Camara, a senior staff reporter with the Point Newspaper left the country last evening to attend an intensive course in development and diplomacy at diploma level.

As part of the course activities, participants will visit Lagos and other countries to familiarise themselves with issues, and to exchange ideas with other colleagues from the sub- region.

Speaking to this reporter, a few hours before his departure, Soury said that the principal objective of the training is to upscale the capacities of developing and transitional countries for successful international cooperation and dialogue.

"The essential is based on three pillars and this includes training course in Germany, aimed at participants from developing and transitional countries which focuses on international development cooperation in both local and regional crisis prevention", he added.

Noting that the alumni programme is there to maintain contact with former participants, and to promote professional exchange, he said, the course also focuses on security and peace-building in the sub-Saharan African countries.

"Am impressed with the opportunity avail to me to raise my augment level, through strategic debate that would help the paper to participate in regional and international dialogue through our local approach", he added.

He then commended the staff and management of the Point Newspaper for the opportunity accorded to him.
