One Kalilu Bojang was on Wednesday 27th October, 2009 arraigned before Principal Magistrates Joseph Ikpala of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court for an alleged murder.
According to the charge sheet, on 24th October 27, 2009, along Kairaba Avenue in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused murdered one Cherno Jallow by hitting him with an iron bar on his head, and thereby caused his death.
While the accused was in the dock without a shirt, the Prosecuting Officer, ASP Sanneh, told the court that "the case was for mention since it does not have the jurisdiction to hear it."
He therefore applied to the court to transfer the case to the High Court.
As a result, Magistrate Ikpala transferred the case to the Special Criminal Court of the High Court to determine it.
He subsequently remanded the accused person in custody.
