Alleged theft case reaches court

The alleged theft case involving one Yaya Sambou has reached the corridor of justice at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Jeng.

According to the charge sheet read in court, the accused, Yaya Sambou, on 26 April 2013, at Brikama Welingara, Kombo Central, West Coast Region, stole 88 mobile phones valued at D4,400; 60 mobile earpiece valued at D3,000; 25 mobile jackets valued at D625; 30 mobile batteries valued at D2,500; 6 mobile phones valued at D3,380 and one pedal bicycle valued at D1,500, all being the property of one Musa Camara.

He admitted to the charge and was granted court bail of D20, 000 with two Gambian sureties who must swear to an affidavit of means and deposit their ID cards.

Hearing continues on 28 May 2013, for judgement.

In a similar development, one Sulayman Kassama was also arraigned at the same court, charged with stealing.

The particulars of offence stated that the accused, Sulayman Kassama, on 18 May 2013, at Brikama Nema, entered into the shop of one Momodou Faquraka and stole therein one bag of onion valued at D600.

He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D1, 000 with a Gambian surety who must swear to an affidavit of means and deposit an ID card. Hearing continues.
