Alleged theft case continues

The second prosecution witness (PW2), Lamin Sanyang, recently testified in the trial involving one Ansumana Jarju, accused of stealing from a motor vehicle, before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Sanyang told the court that he recognized the accused and could recall what happened on 27 April 2015.

He said on the day in question, he was from Tippa Garage Police Station and later proceeded to a restaurant nearby.

He said the watchman of the restaurant traveled and he decided to stay there with the restaurant owner to accompany her until 6 a.m. and he ordered food from the cook.

According to him, he later went around to see the vehicles that were parked outside for safety, as the watchman had traveled.

While he was there observing the vehicles, he had a noise from the fourth vehicle and proceeded to the vehicle, which was a van.

He started inspecting with his touch-light and saw the accused, adding that he then called the attention of the cook.

They apprehended him and took him to the said restaurant where a search was conducted on him and two flash drives were recovered from him.

The accused was then escorted to Bakoteh Police Station, where his statement was recorded.

The case was adjourned to 9 June 2015.
