Monday, April 27, 2009

Awa Drammeh working with NAWEC as a revenue collector and posted at NAWEC Latrikunda Sabiji branch on 20th April 2009 testified at the Bundung Magistrates' Court in the ongoing criminal trial involving one Fatou Jassey-Colley, a former chief cashier with Arab Islamic Bank.

The case is being presided over by Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara.

In her testimony, Awa Drammeh stated that within the month of June to July 2008, while she was posted to NAWEC Latrikunda Sabiji Branch, the accused used to go to her office to collect cash from her, in order to pay it to the NAWEC account with Arab Gambia Islamic Bank. She added that she paid money to the accused on three occasions, adding that whenever the accused comes to her office she gives her the NAWEC money which was in her purse. She revealed that before giving the accused the money she counts and then gives the accused to confirm.  "I gave her the slip of Arab Gambia Islamic Bank and the amount of the denomination and she then stamp on the slip," she said.

She stated that her boss, Amat Cham, wrote a letter to her for her to go to Banjul Police headquarters.

 Hearing continues.
