Alleged Ram Thieves Granted bail

Five accused persons, Allasan Bojang, Hadim Ndure, Pape Ndure, Lamarana Bah and Momodou Barry who were alleged to have stolen President Jammeh's rams in Kanilia were on Tuesday 17th March 2009, granted bail in the sum of D20, 000 each with two Gambia sureties who must swear to an affidavit of means.

MagistratePa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates' Court granted the accused persons bail.

It could be recalled that Allasan Bojang, Hadim Ndure, and Pape Ndure or about the 24th February 2009 at Kanilia village, Foni Kansala, allegedly jointly conspired and stole two rams from the President's farm in Kanilai.

Count II, states that the same day and place, the accused persons stole two rams from the President's farm valued at D3, 500 each,being the property of President Jammeh.

On Count III, it is alleged that Lamarana Bah and Momodou Barry on or about the 24th February 2009 at Kanilai village, Foni Kansala, received two stolen rams knowingly or have reason to believe that they are unlawfully acquired. They denied the charges against them.

Hearing continues.
