Abdou Ceesay of Dobson Vous has emerged as the winner of the first edition of the Late Modou Faal Memorial Draughts Competition held at the Saint Joseph Senior Secondary School Vous in Campama, Banjul.
Abdou Ceesay was seconded by Pa Bojang also of Dobson Vous. Sulayman Norman of Unity Vous came out 3rd, while Arona Jeng of 22nd July Vous finished 4th.
As the champion, Abdou Ceesay went home with a certificate and a cash prize of D6,000. Pa Bojang received a certificate and a cash prize of D4, 000 as the runners-up.
Sulayman Norman also received a certificate and a cash prize of D2,000 as 3rd place holder while Arona Jeng received a cash prize D1,500 as the 4th place holder.
A consolation prize of D3,000 was given to four other participants for their participation in the competition organised by Gambia National Draughts Federation (GDF) and hosted by Saint Joseph Senior Secondary School in Campama, Banjul.
