Over the past few days more and more patients have been visiting our offices seeking overseas treatment. The most recent among them is one Sonny Ivo Gomez, a seven-year-old boy residing in Bakoteh, Kanifing Municipality.

According to a medical report said to have been issued by the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in Banjul and dated 30 July 2010, Sonny Ivo Gomez was apparently well till three years ago when he swallowed some caustic soda which caused him serious damage and has led to a progressive deglutination difficulty for solid food. He was presented initially to the missionaries of the charity in Bakoteh on 19 July 2010 and later referred to the Emergency Department at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

"Detail of the initial Barium swallow studies two years ago are not available at the moment and because of the non-remitting course of his dysphagia, another Barium swallow was undertaken on 14th May 2010 which revealed a proxima accumulation of the Barium contrast and delayed emptying suggestive of a distal obstruction from strictures and Sonny Ivo looks otherwise well but rather asthenic and undernourished," the medical report states.

Since Sonny Ivo could not meet the cost of the recommended overseas treatment, he would like to seek a helping hand to save his life and get his health restored. "I am begging for help from the government, donors, philanthropists, NGOs and individuals to come to my aid as early as possible before my condition get deteriorated."

Meanwhile, anyone who may want to help Sonny Ivo Gomez can contact him on any of the following numbers: (+220) 7858117, 7380944 or 4466427.
