Muslim Hands Distributes Mosquito Nets to Communities

Following the successful workshops onmalariacontrol and mode of prevention for the Imams and communities within the Kanifing Municipal Council two months back,Muslims Hands -the Gambia office recently distributedone thousand long lasting nets to the community of Ebo-Town and Manjai-kunda.

Speaking to Health matters during the distribution exercise, Ousman Bojang Senior project Manager at Muslim Hands said the aim of the exercise is to complement government efforts in the fight against malaria, noting that the mosquito nets are meant for pregnant women and children under five years.

Asa Njie, a resident of Manjai-kunda described the intervention of Muslims Hands as timely, adding that around this time of the year Malaria is rampant in the country.

"The net will greatly protect me and my child", she said.

Another lady, Haddy Jallow said the net will benefit her and the family a lot.

Ndey Jatta a pregnant women commended Muslims Hands for the good gesture, noting that the net will go a long way in preventing her and the entire family from getting malaria.

She called on other organizations to emulate Muslims Hands gesture.

Bintou Fatty a resident of Ebo-Townalso stated that the mosquito nets has come at the right time: "We in Ebo-Townaround this time of the year malaria always disturb us." She equally noted that the nets will greatly assist us them.

Mrs. Aminata Conteh pointed out that she was using the conventional net with her children but now with the long lasting net at her disposal, she is now assured of more security because they are treated nets.

Kineh Sainealso a resident of Ebo-town thanked Muslims Hands for the donation. "I am really happy with this development," she said.

Yankuba Hydara, Social Welfare manager at Muslims Hands coordinating the distribution in Ebo-Town advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the nets donated, adding that a similar exercise will be carried out in Kotu Quarry come Saturday.
