According to reports gathered by our provincial correspondent, the rain, which lasted almost three hours, destroyed compounds in the villages of Demba Kalli, Karantaba Wolof, Karantaba Dutokoto and Karantaba Tabokoto.

Though no casualties were reported at the time of going to press, reports have it that many people were left homeless especially in the village of Demba Kali.

In an interview with our reporter, Mr. Omar Danso, the Village Extension Worker, described the incident as devastating. According to him, some of the affected families are currently being housed by their neighbours in the village. "A large quantity of foodstuffs which were stored at the village cereal bank have been washed away by the storms," he said.

Mawdo Kalli and Njaga Touray, both victims of the incident, expressed concerns over their lost properties while calling on government, NGOs and all well-wishers to come to their aid.
