The Latriya Nawettan has reached semi-final stage with four teams already booking their tickets to this level of the competition.
Latriya United, Labakoreh, Super Eagles of Yuna and PP Three of Yuna are the teams that made it to the semi-finals.
Speaking in an interview with Pointsports, Momodou Sallah, chairman of the Sport Committee of Latriya, said the aim of the Nawettan is to build up a team after the competition which will comprise of the best players of the six participating teams. He noted that Latriya and its surrounding villages have young talented players who, if developed and exposed, would have a place in the various categories of our national teams.
Mr. Sallah stated that shortly after the tournament it is part of their plans to organise test matches with the zonal selections within the greater
"Our objective is to compete in the second division because we are blessed with young talented players who have future," he explained.
In another development last Sunday, Makassa FC were crowned the Super Cup winners of the Serekunda East Newton. They received a trophy and a cheque for D5000 while the runners up, Bantaba, went away with D3000.
Makassa, last year's league champions, defeated their opponents 4-1 in a post match penalty shootout.
