Ekueme, a Nigerian residing in Tallinding, was on 19thAugust 2008 convicted and sentenced by the
Bundung Magistrates' Court for attempting to rape an eight-year -old girl.
He was sentenced to a fine of D5000, in default to serve five months' imprisonment. He was also ordered to compensate the victim in the sum of D5000, in default to serve four months' imprisonment. All sentences are to run consecutively.
It could be recalled that the convict was in July 2008 at Tallinding attempted to rape an eight-old-girl (name withheld).
In mitigation his defence counsel Kebba Sanyang begged the court to tamper justice with mercy since the convict is a first-time offender and a law-abiding foreigner.
