Thursday, July 03, 2008
The annual Ziyarah and Islamic Conference of the late renowned scholar Omar Bun Jeng was held recently at the school grounds in Gunjur. The annual Ziyarah was witnessed by Muslims from across Gambia and the sub region.

Speaking at the occasion, the young brother of the late Omar Bun Jeng, Hafeh Jeng, said the late Omar bun Jeng was a person who promoted Islam in all corners of The Gambia.

He stated that the late Omar Bun Jeng built many schools in the country and commanded all those he encountered to contribute towards the success of the programme. He prayed for peace, unity and stability to prevail in The Gambia and all the Muslim countries around the world.

For his part, Alhagie Mansu Darboe, said the annual Ziyarah and Islamic Conference was organised to promote Islam and also to preach to Muslims on how to aid and empower each other.
