Eight in Court for illegal possession of firearms

Eight suspects were on Monday arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates' Court on a charge of illegal possession of fire arms.

The eight suspects are Ebrima Camara, Bakary Bojang, Karafa Bojang, Ansumana Sanneh, Ismail Sanneh Musa Camara Buba Sarjo and Tunbulu Sanyang.

According to the charge sheet, on or about 19th June this year at Tubakuta Bassaori and Manduwarr village the accused persons were found in possession of eight single barrel guns without valid licences.

When the charge was read to them in the language they claimed to understand, the 1st accused Ebrima Camara pleaded guilty, while the rest of the accused persons denied the charge. They were each granted court bail in the sum of D1000 before the case was adjourned until 28th July.
