A car reportedly stolen from The Gambia has reportedly been seen in Ziguinchor in neighbouring Senegal, The Point has been informed.

The vehicle, a Mercedes Benz 190 with registration number BJL 7728 E, which is now said to be impounded by the Senegalese security forces, is said to have been seized from the driver last Saturday by yet unknown assailants who escaped with it to Senegal.

According to driver Alagie Sabally's account, the bandits found him around a petrol station in Brikama with the car and approached him to hire the vehicle to go to Manduar village, few kilometres from Brikama, at around 10:30pm. Upon reaching the bushes in Manduar, he said, all the money with him was forcefully taken from him, after which he was tied and seriously beaten.

He narrated that they even attempted to bury him, but he managed to escape but they drove the vehicle off.
