Chief Security Officer Testifies in Africell Theft Case

The Chief Security Officer at Africell, Mr. Modou Lamin Coker, yesterday rendered his testimony in a hushed room against Mr. Modou Sanneh of Prime Security Company, who is charged with stealing a fuel tank at Brusubi, said to belong to Africell.

The accused was brought before Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates' Court to admit or deny the charge preferred against him.

While recounting his evidence, the prosecution witness, Mr. Modou Lamin Coker, told the court that he had recollections of relevant happenings on 22nd April 2008 at Brusubi.

He revealed that while at Brusubi, he was tentatively informed by his boss that the site there was for networking but was not in a functional condition, hence the empty tank. He further said that he visited the site with his boss to see why it had failed to function, noting that they realised that the generator door, which had been locked with a strong padlock, was open and the padlock broken. He added that he checked the fuel tank of the generator and found that there was no fuel in the tank.

Furthermore, PW1 and his boss said they considered that Modou Sanneh committed the crime because he was particularly posted at the site as a security officer.

He finally adduced that it was at that point in time that they reported the matter to Wellingara Police station for it to take its course. The case was at that juncture adjourned to 16th June 2008 for cross-examination.
