Monday, June 16, 2008
The first batch of Gambian students, numbering 25, who studied petro-chemical engineering petroleum in Taiwan are set to return to The Gambia after successfully completing their four-year course in Taiwan.

The graduates recently held their convocation ceremony at the National Taipei University of Technology.

The students were said to have been supported by President Jammeh and the Taiwanese Government thanks to the instrumentality of the former Taiwanese ambassador to The Gambia Dr. Patrick Chang.

Reports monitored by The Point, reveal that the graduation ceremony was attended by Mr. Momodou Badgie the head of The Gambia National Petroleum Company (GNPC) who was representing the Secretary of State for Higher Education and Ebrima Camara a permanent secretary at office of the president.

The students, who were said to have all excelled in the programme, are expected in Banjul on June 22, 2008.
