GNOC to honour sports personalities, others

africa » gambia
Thursday, May 08, 2008

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) will on 10May 2008, pay homage to both past and present sports personalities in a banquet and awards ceremony to be held at Kombo Beach Hotel.

GNOC will, on the same day, present trophies to deserving teams of the May Day Sports.

The trophies will be presented in three categories-Overall Winner, the Best Dressed Team and the Most Disciplined Team- and this marks the 10th edition of Sports Banquet and Awards Ceremony.

It would be recalled that the event has been organized each year by the GNOC since 1997. However, there was a break due to Gambia's hosting of the CAF U-17 Tournament in 2005 in Banjul, and the Queen's Baton Relay the same year and the Commonwealth Games in 2006.
