Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Wallidan have extended their lead in the chase for the league title over the weekend by picking three more points over Steve Biko. The blue boys' match with Biko was held to a one all draw until the dying minutes of the game when Wallidan striker Sainey Touray, alias Ballack, came from behind to register his second goal of the match. The Wallidan goal machine capitalised from defensive errors to complete a happy day.

After 15 matches, Steve Biko are occupying fifth position with 19 points.

Fourth position, Hawks FC, is currently with 24 points. The Red Devils defeated Interior 1-0 to climb a step further, contrasted to the first round when both sides drew.

Newly promoted Interior is languishing at the bottom of the table with fourteen points, and less than few matches to go. They are leading in the relegation zone.

The Academy boys of Samger over the weekend shared points with Bakau United after a 1-1 Draw.  The draw by Samger has widened the gap between them and Wallidan to three points. Their fellow contenders Real de Banjul at 25 points with 14 matches , might overtake or draw level with them at second position if they win or draw their game in hand against Gamtel.

Bakau United is still in the relegation zone with fourteen points.

Armed Forces is on 18 points, Africell Sait Matty with 18 points, Sea View and GPA are all at 15 points each.
