Thursday, May 22, 2008

The Scorpions will report for training at the Independence Stadium under the guidance of the new national team coach Paul Put today.

The fact that the players are expected to report for training this evening was revealed by Seedy MB Kinteh, President of the Gambia Football Association.

Ahead of the June 1st cracker in Monrovia, a handful of foreign based players have started storming the country to get their first taste of the qualifiers against the Lone Stars of Liberia in the 2010 World and African Cup Qualifying round.

Among the arrivals are Pa Modou Jagne from Switzerland, Kamal Ndow from Greece and Demba Sanyang from South Africa.

Pa Saikou Kujabi of SV Reid and Pa Ousman Sonko of Austria, Mustapha Jarju and Assan Jatta are all currently in town.

More arrivals are expected next week. After the first leg in Monrovia, The Gambia will be playing the Teranga Lions of Senegal in Banjul and a week later the Scorpions will battle it out with Algeria in their third match on June 13th, 14th and 15th 2008 in Banjul.
