Carnegie Mineral Trial - Ruling Soon on State's Application

africa » gambia
Wednesday, May 21, 2008

The Banjul High Court, chaired by Justice Naceesay Salla-Wadda, is expected to deliver ruling on the stay of proceedings filed by the state as the trial of Carnegie Mineral company and its General Manager, Andrew Charles Nortfield, continued.

The state earlier on filed a stay of proceedings on the case, pending the outcome of the appeal they have filed at the Court of Appeal.

It could be recalled that the Banjul High Court recently struck out the ex parte motion filed by the state, thus leading to the appeal.

Carnegie Mineral company and its General Manager are standing trial in The Gambia on two counts of Economic Crime and one count of stealing.

The case was at that juncture adjourned to 29th May for ruling.
