The Director of Finance of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Bakary Gassama, has been arrested and placed in remand at the state central prison, Mile 2, informed sources disclosed to this paper. No official reason was advanced to this paper for Mr. Gassama's arrest and up to the time of going to press, he was reported to be still in detention at Mile 2.
The arrest and detention of Mr Gasama follows a similar one involving two senior police officials, Burama Dibba, former Crime Management Co-ordinator (CMC) and Ebrima Kunji Jammeh, former Commanding Officer Serious Crime Unit, who were on 30th April arrested and remanded at Mile 2 prison. The duo, according to our sources, has not been charged as at the time of going to press.
In the same vein, two other prominent people, Banta Kaira, a businessman, and Dodou Jobe, a business consultant, who were both arrested since 28th April by state security agents, are still said to be in detention.
In a similar development, the arrest of Ebou Jarju, a presidential steward, has been reported by Foroyaa newspaper. Mr. Jarju was reported to have been arrested since 20th March 2008 at Darsilami, Kombo East Western Region.
