Following the complaint raised by the two remanded prisoners, namely Morris F. Kallon and Sarjo Kanteh, who were handcuffed at the time of their arrival at the Bundung Magistrates' Court, Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara, verified to the police officers in court, on the 11th of November 2008, that the accused persons should not be handcuffed in the court room, adding that it is a wrongful act. The Magistrate further stated that there is no court where the accused persons are handcuffed.
Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara immediately passed an order for the police officers to remove the handcuffs from the hands of the accused persons, adding that the accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and finally told the prosecution officers to keep good guard and a proper monitoring system over the remand prisoners so that they will not abscond.
